getting crafty @ crafty bastards

i got a chance to visit the crafty bastards arts & crafts fair at union market, DC this past weekend. it features over 150 stands of handmade goods from local artists. you can find anything from clothing to jewelry to prints to kitchenware. basically, heaven on earth for me.

IMG_7672IMG_7673 there were a bunch of local food trucks at the festival as well. joe and i tried tequenos, gourmet cheesesticks served with famous dipping sauce, from arepazone!   IMG_7674 these food-inspired watercolor prints from marcella kriebel were some of my absolute favorite.

IMG_7690IMG_7688 IMG_7692there were so many talented artists here! i wish i captured more of the event, but i was too absorbed in looking at all the hard work these artists put into their goodies. the two prints above were my haul for the day. i purchased a watercolor map of new york from the sweet mabel & maggie. the campfires print is from we are brainstorm (i wanted to buy all their prints!), picked up for a close friend who, well, loves camping! i think it’s a great idea to get a head start on christmas shopping here since there are so many unique gifts you can’t find anywhere else.

IMG_7675IMG_7678IMG_7680this was also my first time visiting union market. i never realized we had something like this so close by! there were lots of different food spots to try here. definitely would stop by here again.

IMG_7684IMG_7687 joe grabbed a breakfast bagel from buffalo & bergen. i hear they are known for their unique cocktails! i would highly recommend visiting crafty bastards next year if you are into homemade goods or if you just want to support local artists and businesses. i had a great time seeing everyone’s talent and meeting new people!
